Our farm is called Bethesda Farming as we believe this property is a place for healing where people can come and feel the peace and serenity. This is where our healing process began.
Our vision is to produce delicious, high quality, healthy produce and to share God's love towards us. We want people to know the good news - that He sent His son to die that I may have a relationship with Him and be called His son. We want to be used as a vessel to share God's love and use the farm as a place of healing for our visitors and guests. Through our own healing process, we felt called to share our vision of healing; be it mentally, physically or spiritually.
Our story begins with our journey immigrating from South Africa to the United States of America. This decision was made due to the violence, persecution and continued political unrest in the country. Every month numerous farmers are either attacked and/or murdered and we could not continue living in fear. The uncertain future that our 2 young children faced was the final motivator to take the leap; and what a leap of faith it was (and still is).
Upon arriving in the USA we lived in Florida for approximately 2 years and lived in the city. As we come from a family of farmers, we were looking to the Lord to provide us with a farm to be able to bring our children up in nature and provide for our living expenses. What also burned in our hearts was to use the property to illustrate the beauty, love of God and the peace we have in Him.
In September 2020, we had the opportunity to purchase the property in Yadkinville, North Carolina. What drew us to the property scripture from the bible on a wall on one of the buildings. The scripture was 1 Corinthians 5;17 (Anyone in Christ is a new creation). This same scripture was on all my vehicles in South Africa. It was a miracle how the property was purchased as we were unable to obtain finance due to our lack of credit, however the lord opened the door and we obtained private finance on the property.
The property was previously used as a men’s rehabilitation center called Alpha Acres, a place for New Beginnings. Our lives needed a new beginning and we believe it is a place where our healing begun.
We farm NON GMO naturally grown produce and obtained our accreditation for the Good Agricultural Processes (GAP) with the USDA. We are in the transmission process from conventional to organic farming which we will obtain in 2024. We started harvesting our first naturally grown strawberries in April 2022. We are proud to have obtained our Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) accreditation.
We are upgrading our cottage to allow people to come and enjoy God's beauty. As you fish, sit on the deck overlooking the ponds, or enjoy a walk, you can't help but experience His peace.
We know you will be as blessed as we were and look forward to your visit.
